“Little Wanderers” bedroom make over.

Choosing a new theme for the boys bedroom make over was all too easy, given I wanted it to be styled around what they both enjoy most – getting outside and traveling. I wanted the space to inspire their love for traveling our country, have collections of the things they collect while we are on the road – and the things they love too. I wanted it to inspire them to read, but to also have a calming vibe about the whole room.

A lot of the room was redesigned around things we already had. It was basically a matter of shuffling a few things around the house and bringing them into the boys room to create a new look and also reusing things they already had in their room but making it look fresh at the same time.

I gave the feature wall a new colour of paint, and also repainted the grey walls again just to bring them up some more. There were only a few new additions I wanted to add into the room to give it a new overall feel, and they would be based around the theme of a rainbow, because what’s more beautiful than a rainbow?

I added in some handmade additions, such as a beautiful embroided hoop from Brynn & Co, a rainbow wall decor from Iron and Cub, and a rainbow swaddle blanket from Clementine Kids to add a pop of colour the bottom bunk. I got some new linen from Kmart to work with the new colour theme which was super cheap as well! I had Mann make up some of our Book Ledges so I could create a library wall to store all their books to help inspire them to want to pick up a book and read some more.

I moved the map of Australia from in the play room over into their bedroom, which is also one I found in a book store on our travels! I get asked a lot about where the map is from and it is only recently I got on google to search for the book shop we stumbled upon so I can share where I got it from with you all! And good news – I found it! The Book Grocer! It was only $5 as well! Such a bargain!

I really didn’t spend much at all on giving the boys room a make over by incorporating the use of things we already had, the skills of my handy husband, the bargains of Kmart and the benefits of holding onto paint tins!
